A selection of my journalism work across written, digital, audio and video formats, combining storytelling, research and multimedia production.
The Northern Quarterly is a free community magazine focused on telling the stories of Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Developed as my final MA Multimedia Journalism project, it explores the area’s culture, creativity and evolving identity through local voices and perspectives.
I led the project from concept to final output, writing, editing and designing the publication. The magazine brings together features, interviews and community led stories, covering grassroots initiatives, social issues, arts, food and nightlife.
The aim was to create something accessible and collaborative, reflecting the independent spirit of the Northern Quarter while offering a platform for local voices that are often overlooked in mainstream coverage.

As part of the Bwtîc store launch for Bron Yr Aur Micronation, I developed and executed a cross-platform campaign across social media and email to build awareness around the new online store and its concept of product-linked citizenship.
The campaign focused on clear messaging, strong visual identity and storytelling, positioning Bwtîc as both a retail space and an entry point into the wider micronation narrative.
This activity secured coverage in Cambrian News, extending the campaign beyond owned channels and increasing credibility and reach. It demonstrates my ability to create campaigns that not only engage audiences but also generate wider media interest.

As part of my Multimedia Journalism MA at Manchester Metropolitan University, I created a social-first story adapted from a long-form article I'd had published that explored the impact of endometriosis on women’s working lives.
The piece combined personal testimony, data and employer insight, centred around an interview with Manchester-based fitness influencer Imogen Rose, to highlight both the lived experience and wider workplace challenges of the condition.
I translated the story into a carousel-style Instagram post, breaking down complex information into clear, engaging slides designed for mobile-first consumption. This included structuring the narrative to balance awareness, impact and solutions.
To provide a solutions-led angle, I incorporated insight from Manchester Cat Clinic, part of the Endometriosis Friendly Employer Scheme, showing how organisations can better support employees through flexibility, education and open dialogue.

As part of my Multimedia Journalism MA, I produced a 1-minute 32-second TV news package exploring rising unemployment across Greater Manchester, using data from the Office for National Statistics. The piece focused on translating regional statistics into a human story, highlighting the work of a local charity supporting people back into employment. I filmed, scripted and edited the full package independently, using Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition to produce a broadcast ready piece. This included recording a reporter piece to camera, capturing B roll footage and structuring the narrative to align with standard TV news formats. This project strengthened my ability to work independently across all stages of production, from research and reporting through to final edit.

As part of my Multimedia Journalism MA, I produced a radio news package exploring how Manchester Museum is working to engage younger audiences and challenge perceptions of museums as irrelevant or inaccessible.
The piece combined research, interviews and natural sound to build a narrative around accessibility, representation and audience engagement. It featured managers and staff from the museum as contributors, offering both strategic and on-the-ground perspectives.
I structured the package using broadcast conventions, including cue, reporter links, clips and natural sound, to create a clear and engaging audio story.
The script balanced data led insight with human voices, highlighting both the barriers young people face and the initiatives being introduced to address them.
This project strengthened my ability to tell stories through audio, using voice, structure and sound to create engaging, listener focused journalism.

This radio voice report was produced as part of my Broadcast module during my MA in Multimedia Journalism, focusing on the retirement of Merseyside’s Chief Constable Serena Kennedy and its significance for policing in Liverpool.
I wrote the script for broadcast, focusing on clarity, structure and tone to ensure the story was concise and engaging for a radio audience. The report explored themes of leadership, public service and the impact of Kennedy’s tenure, including her role in handling major incidents.
I recorded the voice report in a studio environment using Burli, refining my delivery to ensure clear pacing, pronunciation and a natural broadcast tone. I then edited the audio in Adobe Audition under a tight deadline, ensuring the final piece was polished and well-timed.
This project strengthened my skills in broadcast writing, voice delivery and audio editing, as well as my ability to produce accurate and engaging content within time constraints.
